Language Settings

Latinas have many things in common – heritage, cultura, values – but not always language! MamásLatinas is a home for all Latinas – whether you read and write in Spanish, English or even little bit of both! Born in Latin America and raised ¿hablando español? We've got you covered. Born in the US or spent most of your life speaking English? You'll love it here. More or less comfortable reading and writing in both languages? Spanglish at MamásLatinas is welcome too!

You'll be glad to find a community here that's just like chatting and hanging out with your close Latina friends – we're welcoming, funny, loud, and caring. We speak in Spanish, English, and sometimes even both. Above all, we want to connect with each other, and even if we speak different languages, we always can find a way!

Read on to learn about how your language settings control different parts of the MamásLatinas site.

Language Settings

Spanish/English

Across the top of every page on MamásLatinas, you'll see a button to choose Spanish or English.

This setting will change:

  • MamásLatinas site features – you will see headlines, buttons, etc in your selected language
  • ¿Qué más? articles – you will only see ¿Qué más? articles in your selected language
  • Notification emails – any emails you receive from MamásLatinas will be in your selected language

This setting will not change:

  • User-generated content – while we wish we had a "translate" button for our groups, unfortunately anything created by individual users (private messages, profile pages, group posts and replies, and even ¿Qué más? comments) will not change based on your selected language
Bilingual

If you select "Bilingual" from your account settings page, you'll experience ¿Qué más? posts in both English and Spanish. Don't worry, we'll never show you the same article in both languages!

This setting will change

  • ¿Qué más? articles – you'll see articles in both English and Spanish, but the majority will be in your selected language

This setting will not change:

  • User-generated content – while we wish we had a "translate" button for our entire website, unfortunately anything created by individual users (private messages, profile pages, group posts and replies, and even ¿Qué más? comments) will not change based on your language preferences

Group Posts

In groups, members can post and reply in either language, or in both. We've got plenty of conversations in one language, and even an entire group dedicated to Puro Español!
