Now that it's getting colder, I really want to try making a pot roast. Any recipes or tips?
( I might have asked thie question before, but I can't find the post.)

I don't think I've ever made it! I've had some of my friends' who've made it in slow cookers with carrots and potatoes. Sorry! I don't know any good recipes...yet!
LOL .. I just came back from our local store and got some meat for my hubby .. he would be happy :) .. They sell the meat with the spices and evrything just to put in the pot w the veggies super simple and very good for the cold weather. I have a green salad on the side too
I make pot roast in my crock pot regularly.
My kids love Dr. Pepper Pot Roast the most. Throw a pot roast into a crock pot, add salt & pepper & a little dash of garlic if you'd like & 1-2 liters of Dr. Pepper soda. The soda tenderizes the meat & cooks down to a thicken sauce that gives wonderful flavor. Cook till tender (6-8 hrs)
I also make a traditional pot roast by adding, salt, pepper, garlic (powder & minced), 2 envelopes of brown, mushroom or onion gravy (or a combo or any of the 3). 2 cups of water (add more if you find it necessary as it's cooking). Add veggies such as fresh portabella mushrooms, carrots & potatoes & a small yellow onion. Cook for 6-8 hrs.
Boliche or Spanish style. Have a butcher butterfly your pot roast & stuff with giardiniera veggies. Roll up like a jelly roll & tie with twine. Cook in crock pot with tomato sauce instead of the gravy above.
* you could bake this too without the tomato sauce in a dutch oven
Ill have to try this i've never made pot roast

Same here. I may have done one once in the crockpot, and as you said, with carrots and potatoes. And probably celery as well.
This is really good. Super simple. If you have a crock pot, throw it all in (frozen's ok) in the morning before you leave for work or to run your errands. Within 6-8 hrs you will have a hot meal waiting for you!
Speaking of which I need to go buy a new crock pot. Mine looked like it had been through a war so I got rid of it & have since been too lazy to go get a new one. :)
Let me know if you do try this one.
