My husband enjoys soft, chewy chocolate chip cookies every so often. Instead of buying the store ones, Chips Ahoy or whatever, I did a search for recipes online. Almost all of them included Pudding Mix.

I tried this recipe from allrecipes.com

I subsituted chocolate pudding mix for the vanilla, and white chocolate morsels for the regular chocolate chips, so it was kind of an opposite, black & white cookie. I also halfed the ingredients cause I didn't feel the need to make so many cookies. I still made enough for 2 dozen. They were delicious.

Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cook Time: 12 Minutes
Ready In: 1 Hour 40 Minutes
Servings: 72

"Here's an Allrecipes classic and much-loved chocolate chip cookie recipe that uses instant pudding mix in the batter."

Ingredients:

4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups butter, softened
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 (3.4 ounce) packages instant vanilla
pudding mix
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Sift together the flour and baking soda, set aside.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat in the instant pudding mix until blended. Stir in the eggs and vanilla. Blend in the flour mixture. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Drop cookies by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
3. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Edges should be golden brown

I agree, the recipe says vanilla, but I used chocolate and the cookies were really good: soft and chewy and melt in your mouth. The children loved them.

I use the dry powder from the box, and then mix it in the recipe.
