Hi Ladies,
It's nice to find this website. I have a 2 year old and I live in VA. I've been looking around for a preschool for my daughter. It's been tough. I'd really like her to go to a bilingual preschool. Does anyone out there have any experience with bilingual education?
Thanks, Cathy
Hi. I'm Tracy, a single mom to a 3 year old daughter. We're blingual (I have a Bachelors in Spanish & I'm preparing to take classes to teach English as a second language). I've tried to look into preschools for her, but it seems I can't afford most of them but ones for low income families say I make too much. I feel stuck, but I want her to have the best education possible. I've been working with her & teaching her things at home, but I"m not sure what else to do.
Hello Cathy! Welcome to the group. I don't have experience with bilingual schools but hopefully one of the other moms can give you some info.

Hi Tracy,
I hear you. I've looked at more than 10 preschools. The churches around here have half day classes (about 3 hours) and mostly parents put their kids in there a few mornings a week. The chains- Kindercare, La Petite Academy etc... do full time care and the price differential is pretty steep. While the churches may charge $200-$300 a month, the chains charge that much and more a week! Crazy! Sometimes it's better to have someone come over and pay them hourly... I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my daughter.
:-) Cathy
Hi everyone. I'm Augusta. I am in Tennessee. DH and I have been married almost 6 years now. We have two biological sons, Edwin almost 3 yrs old and Evan 15 months old. My nephew Eric also considers us his parents. He's 14yrs old and I've basically raised him since birth. I'm sort of a SAHM and a WAHM. I work as a live in companion for adults who have developmental and intellectual disabilities. Due to the nature of my job my family is at work with me. I homeschool my nephew and plan to do the same with my sons. Our school public school system is awful and we can't afford private school. I love the flexibility that homeschooling gives as far as teaching. I my nephew grasps a concept quickly we can move on if he needs more time he has it. Right now he is technically an 8th grader however his math and scicene studies are at 9th grade level. His other studies are right at 8th grade.
