How do you get rid of mosquitoes during the summer?

Please, I need advise. I am getting bitten up like crazy. These sneaky bastardos get into the apartment even though we have screens in our windows. How can I get rid of them from the house? What can I do to stop the itching?

Any tips?

I dont know if you live in one of the areas Affected by west nile virus.  We do. We bought one of those mosquito machines($200-$300) and are not impressed, plus we still have them.  If you have space for pots plant some citronella right by the entrance.  Keep a candle with eucaliptus oil burning close to the entrances.  It will not kill them, but it will help.  The only thing I can think of is using one of thos masquito bombs(raid) inside the house when you go out, so by the time you come back they are dead.  Right now I think we are all getting them, no matter what we do.

Thank you. Yes, NY is occasionally plagued by West Nile.
