Does anyone homeschool?

So starting this year, I will be homeschooling my children. I am very excited and cannot wait to begin. I've been buying textbooks and workbooks since early this year. I should be done with all their supplies before the end of summer and the funny thing is I will have still spent LESS than what I would have to send them to public school

I have homeschooled before and you're right, you spend less than sending them to school. There are many benefits and I would have continued but I did it mostly to boost my oldest son's reading since he had been struggling. He improved greatly with the one on one instruction.

No.  And as long as I can control it I will never do it.  I will not alienate my kids like that and I simoly refused to give my time off too.

The school is not administering Alexander's asthma pump the way they are supposed to. The teachers are allowing Alexander to be bullied and never give him a chance to explain what it going on. Alexander is heading into 6th grade and does not yet know how to take notes. He just had to write his very first paper. He is no where near what a 6th grader should be. The schools here focus too much on the state exams and not enough on what they should know to be prepared for college.

Olivia is completely ahead of the class and spends more time in other kids classrooms (for the younger grades), reading to the kindergartners or helping her classmates catch up to the work. She is in 3rd grade. She should be learning, not doing the teacher's job.

Alexander and Olivia will be able to get more personalized education. They will not have to be held back because of students who are not prepared. I would rather sacrifice my free time to ensure that they are well educated, than to worry about them socializing with children who curse on the bus, who are already being caught having sex in the schools, who do not do their work and do not respect their elders.

My children are not small. They are young at 11 and 9, but they know how to behave already with both adults and with other children. We have the next door neighbors who have 2 daughters they play with, their friends at the children's fellowship at church and their friends at the YMCA. They will still get more than enough socialization.
