I know that we have a few mamas who homeschool and do a GREAT job at it! AND they know all the best educational websites, too! If you homeschool, can you give us some tips and possibly some websites we can use to help our kids through school?
Thanks!

K-12Online Education... The Home Schol Mom, I don't school at home but a friend gave me this website, Hope they work for you...
I do preschool homeschooling, some sites I use are first-school.ws/ , Preschoollearning.com and my favorite is activityvillage.co/uk
Hola, everyone! Here is some homeschooling info to get you started. This is a tremendous endeavor, but well worth it! :)
Start here: homeschooling.about.com then click on: homeschooling 101 This will give you the basics on homeschooling from laws for your state, homeschooling methods, curriculum, free resources, etc. Once you have read about the different methods, and the laws for your state, then you can start looking at curriculum and free resources (there is SO much available) and go from there. I would also find support groups for your area. This is an inavaluable resource...as homeschooling can be overwhelming at times. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me; I would happy to help you out.
Also, you can go to: HSLDA.org for all legal information for your state.
Here are some more sites to check out:
HomeEducationResources.com
home-school.com
homeedmag.com
homeschool.com
homeschooling.gomilpitas.com (this is a great site)
holtgws.com
thehomeschoolmom.com
freehomeschoolresources.com
donnayoung.org (another one of my favorites)
letshomeschool.com
homeschool central
homeschoolhelper
homeschoolfreestuff.com
oldfashionededucation.com
home-schoolovetoknow.com
ambelside.org
Now, as for information in spanish...I have to research this further. I know there is curriculum available, but homeshool how to's, not sure. I will post more on this later.
Take your time to see what will work for your child individually and for your family. :)

I am doing high school now with my girls and finding good websites for the upper grades has been challenging. There are TONS of resources for younger kids, but not so much for the older ones.
The last few years I've pretty much been doing it on my own. I order a lot of my curriculum from HERE . Fortunately my oldest loves to read so we've given her lots of history and science books. My younger one is not so much a reader, but she does workbooks well and is good at finding the right resource for answering the challenging questions.
I really won't be able to give any tips until next yr as this September will be my first year homeschooling.
I've joined an incredible Homeschooling group on FB. A lot of the supplemental work we use we get from Pinterest. Search for homeschooling, or grade level, or teaching and you'll be amazed by what pops up.
For those with high schoolers, what grades and subjects are you looking for? I can ask the ladies in my group and share the information for you.
If you have little ones like me, a great site to use to help teach reading is www.progressivephonics.com
Always check with your states laws to be sure you are adhering to your state requirements for homeschoolers and compulsory attendance.

I homeschool! This will be our 3rd year homeschooling. I use abeka and starting next year bju. We love hsing. Dd is going into 4th grade.
I want to suggest a helpful tool for mamas that homeschool as well. It is a step-by-step guidebook for parents that are teaching their children to read at home. The title is Race to Read and it can be ordered on the following site: www.RaceToReadNow.com. I have used the book for tutoring and it worked great.
I'm new to homeschool too, I'm starting August 13 for my first year with my 2 oldest daughters one is 7th grade and the second one in 6th grade I choosed the GA cyber school curriculum thru K12.com I decided to homeschool because the schools in our area are really bad and I wanted to help my girls and since I'm a stay at home I thought I'll give it a try. My biggest fear is that instead of helping them I'll keep them back!!
Thank to all the mamas Latinas who give us links to help our kids!! And good luck to alloff you!!

Moms with school-aged kids (5-18 yrs old) gather here to share parenting advice on education, discipline, games, and anything else that comes to mind!
