Anyone been to a fair yet?

Our State Fair started late last week and I haven't gone just yet. I know when I make my way there, I will get carried away with the fair food so I normally stay away!

Has your town/county/state held one yet? Any pics?

I don't think this city has a state fair. Which sucks. When I lived in Cali we used to go to the Pomona State Fair!

Here we have the Rodeo at the end of February for 21 days.  It ends up in March.  Food is allowed into the fairgrounds, so we take our own drinks and food.  Besides saving some money, we do not like the foods there.  They are super expensive, everything is super big and tasteless.  Except for grase and salt  you can't really taste much, and supposedly we have one of the best.  We enjoy an occassional piece of fried cheesecake or fried twinkie, and even fried ice cream.  As you can see, petty much everything is fried.  The food has improved.  There has always been barbecue as well, because after all it is part of Texas.   We don't like that it is too expensive because they serve enough food to feed 2 or 3 people from the same plate.  Mostly those are not foods I eat, so I enjoy the one that I take from home.  We spend the whole day at the fair when we go.  There is also a rodeo and show every night, but that is separate and there are no food or drinks allowed on there.
