OMG!!! She almost shaved off her eyebrows!!!

My daughter will be 11 in a week and she is a hairy child.  I don't say that in a mean way at all.  She's beautiful, has long dark hair that's very thick and heavy.  She has lots of hair on her arms and legs.  Her dad is from Mexico and has alot of hair.  I'm Puerto Rican and I have no hair on my arms at all, I'm lucky to have hair on my head lol! So I'm sure she gets it from his side of the family. So, the issue is that she has thick dark eyebrows that, to me, look beautiful bc it looks like she gets them waxed, they're not all over her forehead.

Apparently her "friends" in school told her that they were too bushy and she needed to shave them.  So, guess what my daughter did?  She decided to try to shave them with MY RAZOR for my legs!!  She almost shaved them off!  I was so angry and asked her why she did it.  She didn't want to tell me bc she was embarassed.  But she finally did.  Little girls can be HORRIBLE!! So, anyway I told her that they might have said that to her bc they were jealous and that she needed to talk to me the next time something like this happened.

BUT, it got me thinking:  What's the best age to start shaving and waxing?  She's 11 and I know she'll start asking me to shave her legs.  I have no idea what to say to her.  I think she's too young but I might not have a choice.  Any advice?

Considering that I have the "Mexican fuzz" too. LOL I feel for her. My Mom didn't let me start shaving until I started my period, (even though I had been begging to before that).

I hope her eyebrows grow back just as nice as you say they were before this. Poor thing, girls can be so mean.

I started shaving when I was 11.  I didn't wear make up or anything, but I just wanted to shave.

I know it's horrible!  They're growing back but very SLOWLY.  Ughh, I think might have to bite the bullet and teach her how to shave.

Yeah, I'm thinking I might have to show her how to do it.  I might wait a little bit more though.

Hi!!... well i don't have an answer for your question, but i would like to know too!... my daughter is  11 too, and even tho she doesn't have that much hair in her legs, arms and under arms, she's been begging for permission to shave... i've told her to wait until she's 15, but she doesn't want to wait,  i can see the pressure from her friends  ( most of them already shave and some even have boyfriend!! ) .. It's just not our practice and i don't consider it appropiate for a little girl,('cuz she's a little girl still, she's 11 !!!! ... ) am i being to close minded? .... I think she looks beatiful like that!!... Thank you / Gracias

I think my baby is beautiful too and I don't want her to start because she is still a little girl to me.  But I also know that her body is changing and I have to accept that.  I'm thinking that I might let her start soon but I might wait until school starts again in August.
